Quick Hello

The last few days have been anything but boring. I enjoyed my time in Madrid immensely, but Thursday morning came quickly, and it was time to head south. I was sad to leave Madrid, the people are friendly the streets are very clean, and there is so much to do (for example go to the Plaza Mayor, walk in places where people have walked for thousands of years, Drink amazing Coffee/espresso and the Churros con Chocolate are Incredible).

I got a good feel for Madrid and will be back for at least one if not more trips. Hopefully one of these trips will include a Real Madrid match.
On the way to Sevilla we stopped in the city of Toledo.

Toledo, the former capital of Spain, has an incredible amount of history.(disregard my smirk. ha) Basically Toledo has a very key location on the Iberian peninsula were many different people lived at one time. For a while Moors, Jews and Christians here lived in peace, but when the inquisition started the non Christians were forced to convert or they were kicked out. In Toledo I saw my favorite painting so far it is called "Santo Tome. Entierro del Conde de Orgaz" by El Greco. I wasn't allowed to take a picture but here's a picture of a postcard I was sucked into buying.

Sorry for the long time passed I have not had a reliable internet source the past week. I look forward to catching you up with what is going on is Sevilla.

until then Ciao

Buen Viaje

So I arrived In Madrid Last night after a Long (18+ hours) day of traveling. I had a pleasant encounter with my good friend Ryan in the Atlanta airport before departing. That was a great surprise. Ryan will be studying in Sevilla with me this semester. He and I can’t wait to Shredd the Gnar in Spain together.

My First Hostel experience occurred last night, and it was a rather good one. This Hostel that I stayed at (Cat’s Hostel) was previously some type of famous building, but now it’s a Cheap/ Chulo (cool) place to stay. I met some students from Australia, Germany, San Francisco, and Seattle. It was nice Chatting with people from all over the world.

Last night John and I went out for Tapas and Beer. I met John on the Flight yesterday and he is actually studying in Sevilla as well. The food was awesome I ordered Brie con Jamón Ibérico, which is Brie on an open faced Baguette with slices of Jamón Ibérico(solely acorn feed cured pork). It was amazing. The Beer was good as well.ha
Today Aileen was nice enough to show me around her City. Aileen is a former Clemson student who is working as an Au Pair for a Spanish family here in Madrid. I met her at this cool bear statue in La Puerta Del Sol.

Puerta Del Sol Is essentially a Square, but there are six roads that all meet here and if one looks at it on a map or from above it risibles the Sun’s rays. We walk all around the city. The first place we went was Plaza Mayor which you might be familiar with from the movie Vantage Point. Then we moved on to The Royal Palace and a huge Cathedral. Both were very impressive. We ended the Trip with Churros and Café con leche at a nice little place that had a ton of local flavor. I’ll probably go back tonight. Haha.
These last few days have exceeded my expectations big time. I think I’m in sensory overload right now with all these new experiences. Thanks so much for all the Prayers and support.

much love,

-rob
